Budget-Friendly Non-Toxic Swaps (under $30)
Because priortizing our health doesn't need to be $$$$
Happy Sunday! I always strive to share a range of price options when I share non-toxic swaps. I definitely can acknowledge that some of the swaps can be on the pricier side (although I will only ever share swaps that I feel are genuinely worth it). That being said, I wanted to dedicate a post specifically to the swaps with the most budget-friendly prices. I truly believe we can do so much for our health for free and make swaps that are in our price range. Everything in this guide is $30 or under. I know that starting to switch to a non-toxic lifestyle can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be SUPER expensive to make small changes. Starting somewhere is better than not starting at all!
Here are some of my favorite swaps under $30:
BUDGET-FRIENDLY SWAPS STARTER PACK
Glass Cutting Board: This glass cutting board is a great swap to make instead of plastic. It’s also only $12.98.
Measuring Cups: Swapping from plastic to stainless steel measuring cups is definitely worth it if you are an avid baker! These are only $9.99.
Cast Iron: Cast iron is a great non-toxic swap for teflon pans. Lodge makes cast iron pans that are very decently priced! This one is on sale for $14.90.
Baking Dish: This glass baking dish is on sale for $12.95! Cooking in glass is a great swap to make instead of using aluminum or plastic.
Beeswax Wrap: This is a great option instead of plastic bags. It’s also under $20!
Water Bottle: If you frequently carry a water bottle around with you, try swapping it to a glass or stainless steel bottle for under $20!
Glass Jars: Glass jars are also an easy swap to make! These jars are $11.99. You can use them for storage and also as drinking glasses!
Pyrex Containers: Swapping from plastic to glass can make a big difference in the amount of microplastics you are being exposed to. Grab this set for $29.10.
Stainless Steel Pan: This Cuisinart stainless steel pan is a great place to start if you are looking to swap over some of your teflon cookware for a lower price. This pan is only $25!
Shampoo & Conditioner: Acure is a great option for shampoo & conditioner that doesn’t break the bank.
Tongue Scraper: This tongue scraper is a simple way to improve your oral hygiene for less than $10!
Organic Tampons: Rael is an organic tampon brand with BPA-free applicators and they also don’t use chlorine or fragrance. Swapping to organic feminine products is a super important swap to make!
Oil: You can grab this Desert Essence Jojoba Oil on Amazon! A 2-pack is under $30. This is a great swap for the fancy oils that have multiple ingredients in them. If you are looking for an oil that moisturizes or to use a gua sha with, this one is perfect!
Dryer Balls: Dryer balls are a great swap to make instead of using toxic fabric softener. Plus, they are reusable, so they are totally worth the money. They can reduce drying time by up to 30% which helps reduce energy used.
Frownies: These frownies are a great (and much cheaper) alternative to botox!
Dr. Bronner’s Magic Balm: This is my favorite swap for vaseline. You only need a small amount, so it lasts for a long time! It works so well on dry skin. I always have this on hand.
Concealer: This is the concealer I use and it’s currently on sale for $15!
Coconut Oil: When I am consistent with oil pulling it makes my teeth white!!
Cocokind Matcha Stick: This is a great hack for dark circles and puffiness. When it comes to skincare, I like to keep it really simple and this is one of my favorites!
Chapstick: Dr. Bronner’s chapstick is less than $5 and the perfect swap!
Face Mask: This clay mask uses super simple ingredients and is under $15! I also use it on my armpits.
Mascara: Swap out your mascara for Ilia. It’s non-toxic and under $30.
Nails: Olive & June makes nails that are 15-free and easy to stick on with glue or tabs. They come in so many cute designs also! I also like them because they don’t damage my nails.
All of the previous swap emails can also be found in the swaps section of my Substack if you ever need to reference them! The great thing about Substack is that I can also edit and update the posts to reflect new brands I’ve found- so I will be able to keep these guides up-to-date! ❤️
