Histamine is a chemical found naturally in the body and in many foods. It plays a role in various bodily functions, including the immune system, digestion, and sleep. However, for some people, histamine can cause unpleasant symptoms if they have too much of it or their body has trouble breaking it down. Personally, I have MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) and histamine intolerance, so I have had to adopt a low histamine diet. I have found it incredibly helpful but it can be very restrictive so it is important to do this under the care and recommendation of a doctor or nutritionist.
Below are some of my favorite lower histamine recipes! Just a reminder that what everyone tolerates will be different and you should only eat foods that you know work with your body.
